The aim of this course is to improve students’ spoken English in a variety of activities (e.g. role plays, presentations, discussions), situations (formal v. informal, conflict v. non-conflict) and business contexts (job interviews, meetings, negotiations). The main component of this course is an in-class presentation. Each student will be expected to prepare and deliver a presentation on a selected topic to the rest of the class, which will then lead to a question-and-answer session and general classroom discussion. Other class members are expected to take an active role in the post-presentation phase of the class. In addition to the presentations, students will take part in a number of oral activities in class, some of which require prior preparation.
