In this course, the students and the lecturer are co-learners, learning together about queer-informed English language education (ELE). Firstly, participants will unpack the principles of social justice and examine their impact on language education. This includes acquiring knowledge about the intricate relationship between language(s), power dynamics, privilege and discrimination. The main part of the course aims at cultivating an in-depth understanding of critical pedagogies, specifically focussing on the perspectives and experiences of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Participants will learn about queer pedagogy and queer inclusive practices before they develop strategies to address heteronormativity and promote diverse representations in language materials. Students become acquainted with innovative methods and materials aimed at challenging traditional norms and dismantling stereotypes within the realm of queer-informed ELT, fostering a transformative and empowering language learning experience for all students and teachers. |
