Education Method:
Flipped classroom Students are supposed to read english review articles at home which are visualized and presented in the classroom.
Learning outcomes:
Students get to know the currently discussed contaminants, their sources and pathways. They have the ability to describe the chemistry of the contaminants, their use for human mankind. They have the ability to gain knowledge from scientific publications and present its contents. They can discuss the misuse of chemicals in a profound way and name prevention strategies.

Die Veranstaltung ist zugleich anrechenbar für Bereich II des Zertifikats ‚Bildung für Nachhaltige Entwicklung‘ der UDE.
The course is in the first Master's semester of the Environmental Toxicology program. Students are international, so the course is held entirely in English.
It is a flipped classroom approach. Students have to read English scientific review papers every week in preparation. During the exercise in the computer lab, the contents of these papers are summarized in the form of posters using the Concept Board platform and presented to the whole group.

Students should be interested in environmental issues and have a basic knowledge of chemistry, or should not be afraid to acquire it. Attendance is compulsory for the course as it is a practical exercise in which posters are designed in teams each week. One day of absence per semester is allowed.
