Inhalte:
NELS is a dynamic virtual exchange course designed to equip current and aspiring student leaders in Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa with the next-level skills needed to drive change on their campuses, in their communities, and in their future careers. Through interactive sessions, collaborative projects, and intercultural dialogue, students will gain practical skills, build strong networks, and engage deeply with real-world leadership challenges.
The NELS course offers one welcome session and five thematic sessions, all delivered online to ensure accessibility and inclusion. Sessions run twice per semester to allow flexible participation and are led by experienced facilitators and student organization representatives from across Africa and Europe.
Session overview:
Welcome Session: Offers orientation, introduces the NELS platform and facilitation team, and provides training on respectful digital interaction (netiquette), portfolio preparation, and expectations for participation.
Future Skills and Megatrends:
Examines global shifts like digitalisation, climate change, and demographic change, and how these impact higher education and leadership.
Digitalisation and Digital Transformation:
Focuses on the implications of digital technology in education, activism, and governance, offering tools for digital leadership and innovation.
Next-Level Skills: Leadership for Student Leaders:
Builds essential leadership capabilities including ethical decision-making, time management, and goal setting within student governance contexts.
Communication in the Virtual Space:
Strengthens students' ability to communicate effectively and inclusively in online environments, with a focus on collaboration and clarity.
New Ways of Student Organising I: Discusses emerging models of student mobilisation, focusing on digital activism, decentralised leadership, and participatory governance.
