Between 1964 and 1969 the United States were overpowered by British acts, designers, actors and, most of all, rock ‘n’ roll bands. Names like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks and The Who spring readily to mind. In the course of the seminar we will try to explain why that happened, concentrating on a dozen “invasion bands” and the culture they exported across the Atlantic. Of course this cannot be done without the proper theoretical tool kit which will also be provided. |
