Negotiation is an essential mechanism not only in finding decisions, but also in resolving conflicts. It is a chosen method to achieve decisions in a complex process involving various actors and perspectives, thus, requiring strategic planning and comprehensive preparations. The seminar aims to enhance the knowledge of students on negotiation through problem-oriented and context-related approaches. A focus will be given to peace and conflict related negotiations. Its main purpose is to assist students to develop not only their theoretical knowledge of the issues involved, but as well as the skills and competencies in conducting multi-actor negotiations. Students will be exposed to various problem-contexts that usually confront “peace brokers” in resolving complex violent conflicts. The seminar is complemented by various simulation games that would allow students to experience conflict management through negotiations.
