Applied Climatology and bioenvironmental Urban Studies
During this course the students learn about urban climatology and ecology starting from the definition of the urban areas in geographical sense and their development from prehistoric to current times. Within the first lectures, when urban climatology is taught, features, causes and characteristics; structure of urban atmosphere and wind field; thermal and hydrological properties of urban surfaces; radiation and energy balances as well as air pollution and ventilation within urban areas are discussed in details. Urban soils; hydrological and nutrient cycle; flora and fauna within the city area are the subject for urban ecology. The course ends with global warming affect on urban climate.
